I am interested in genealogy and history, especially tied to my ancestors. I was born in Ohio and grew up in Mineral City, Ohio which is in Tuscarawas County. I am currently researching a reference to a lineage connection to General Hugh Mercer (American Revolutionary War). The Tuscarawas County, Ohio Historical Atlas 1875 and 1908, p. 161 refers to a known ancestor, Sydney Mercer Murphy, and says she traced her lineage to the family of General Mercer. Please note: this reference is vague is research shows no direct ancestry of Sydney Mercer Murphy to General Hugh Mercer. Thanks for all input.
