Bio
I am a Federal Employee - "Fed" working for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). One of 2.1 million Feds, about the same number we had in 1962 at the start of the space race! You wouldn't know that listening to the Fed-bashing going on.
I've been doing genealogy since the 8th grade & the computer has benefited this work in so many ways -- I've spent 3 days before trying to find a name in the microfilmed census data for one single small town in maine.
Most of my family is either from Coles & Douglas County, IL (Honn, Martin, Shields, Miller), New England (Hopkins, Sherman, Chase, Dewey, Fay, Fassett, Campbell) or Kentucky (Honn, West, Kemper, Roberts) going back to the time and place of Daniel Boone - Lancaster, Garrard County & Boone County.
Ancestry.com is my main vehicle, along with the New England Historical Genealogical Society. If I'd known I'd stay interested in this for this long, I'd have set out to be more organized and document sources better! While I've been looking at past history, I haven't documented current history - birth's marriages, etc. of my cousins, etc.
Trying to fix that.
