I am a true mutt - my ancestors converged in Dakota Territory in the 1880's, from various places: England, Germany, Holland, Czechoslovakia, and France. I stumbled upon Findagrave and soon became a member. One of my missions, in addition to filling out my family tree, is to memorialize the veterans to whom I am related. I look forward to photo requests and to helping other FAG members in whatever ways I can.
RE: Ethel Billings Happy to help - the reason the parent edits were rejected is because the father's memorial states it is an 'assumed burial location' because it was the closest cemetery, and the mother is not on the cemetery transcription for Live Oak. I asked the memorial creator to provide her documentation of the burials and she is unable to do so, therefore, I won't link to what is essentially an unknown burial. If you can provide that - great!
Additionally, the memorial creator of the mother and father submitted a correction that Ethel was born in Lewis and Clark County and died in the City of Los Angeles, but was unable to provide any source for that either.
Any help you can provide would be great - I don't like to add things that cannot be supported by source material. Looking forward to collaborating on this to get it as completed as possible! LG
Eva Fillach Snider Hi Anne, I was wondering how well you knew Ira B. Snider and his wife, Eva. You called her Aunt Evy on this posting. I descend through George Washington VanMatre, stepson of Charlotte Ellen Snider, Ira's sister. I did not know my VanMatre ancestors and would be interested in stories you can share. Melynie
I am so sorry for your loss Anne and hope you will find comfort in knowing you and your dad will unite again in heaven. Hold on to the lovely memories you had with him. He will always be in your heart and with you wherever you go. I understand the pain of losing a parent. My father was my everything and I still miss him, but I know he is no longer in pain, for he too passed from cancer, an evil disease that attempts to rob one of everything. But it never took away my father's love for his family and the faith he had in God. My sympathies to you and your family. If you ever need to talk, you have my e-mail. Hugs...
