I am in search of family history and knowing what of the backgrounds for family members. This all started at my having grandchildren and wanting them to have as much information on their family and where their ancestors hailed from. I believe heritage is important. When I enter cemeteries to take photos of stones, I know there is a real person in there, whether or not they are still breathing. They were born, lived and passed on. What went on in their era, their lives in between those dates recorded on their stones. I know I once read a quip about how we spend our dashes (the dash between birthdate and death date). It's an important matter and I want to make the most of my dash!
I am interested in helping others with their research and photo requests as well. It is the preservation of life and memories and somehow helps us feel connected to those relatives and Grandparents we never got to meet. I love bringing that to life!

RE: Allen Willis
Can you please update the cemetery to the same cemetery as his parents?
Added by K Please provide proof and Memorial numbers. I update many of these each day and those without detail get ignored. Thanks. Mary

RE: Addison Curtiss
I called today and talked to Linda, the other sexton. She had E.L. Curtiss who is Edward Levy, as you said. His father was Levi and mother Grace. Linda said she would go to the cemetery to see what she could find. I asked her to look for Levi and Grace also. Edward did not have a son Levi. Strange that you talked to Amy today. Linda told me she was away and she (Linda) had the paper work that Amy had been working on for you. She said she would call or email me after she went to the cemetery. I'll let you know what I hear.

Thank you for the additional information. I wrote it down and will try to call one of the ladies listed. I'll let you know what, if anything, I find out.

Clinton Curtiss
Thank you again. I have Clinton's obit. Mallory Library has been very helpful to me in the past. Also, thanks for reminding me that I hadn't linked Levi and Grace with Clinton. I have done that now. When I first started using findagrave, linking wasn't an option, so some of mine didn't get linked. I thought I had gone through and done that for everyone, but guess I missed Clinton. Thanks for all your help. Levi and Grace had a daughter, Lydia A. who married Daniel Gorton. They were in Wash state in 1920 and Daniel died in 1925. Haven't been able to find a death date for Lydia. I don't have enough information about them to put them on findagrave. Also, there's Mariett, and I've found almost nothing about her. I think I have all the rest of their children on and linked.

RE: Gracie Curtiss
Thanks. I have a record from the Painesville Telegraph 24 Aug 1882 page 3 column 5. It's titled Concord. There are several notes about various happenings and near the bottom it reads -
"Gracie Curtiss, wife of Levi Curtiss, died of Bright's Disease Tuesday, Aug. 22, about 10 o'clock, aged 62."

I assumed she was buried somewhere in Concord, but I haven't been able to find a death certificate or burial place for her.

I have a certified copy of a death record for Gracie's, husband, Levi, who died 25 Mar 1894. It was sent at the request of family member and dated 8 Jun 1992 Plainesville Ohio and signed by Fred V. Skok. This also comes up on Family Search "Ohio Deaths and Burials, 1854-1997. Death place is Concord, Lake, Ohio. But, I cannot find a burial place for him either. Thanks for your efforts.

Addison Curtiss
Thank you for checking out Addison. I have a copy of his death certificate and as I'm sure you noticed on the one you put on his memorial, that he is supposedly interred in Concord Cemetery. Have you checked with the sexton to see if he might know something. It's very possible that there is no stone. I don't know anything more to suggest, but thank you for your persistence.

RE: Gerry Brakeman
Good morning, Kathleen. You're right; Gerry has two memorials. The one in Brakeman Cemetery was undoubtedly done by his father, Henry Brakeman, for whom the cemetery is named. The other memorial was probably done by his widow. I believe that he is actually buried in Marietta, GA. It's an unusual situation, but he does actually have to memorials.

Thanks for keeping me on my toes.
