Bio

I've had a love for family research since 2004. In 2012, Ancestry.com, familysearch.org, and Findagrave.com opened many doors. Due to a roadblock, I decided to complete a DNA test in 2016. Armed with this technology and generous help from others, it took another 16 months to reach my "Ah Ha" moment. February 2018 had found to be a revealing year.

My interest was fueled knowing my Father, Domonick was the 1st generation son of a Lithuanian born Father and Grandparents who emigrated to the U.S. from the Russian Empire. They settled in Hartshorne, Oklahoma and was found on the 1910 US Federal Census, living in the Dow Mining Camp with their 5 children, all while laboring as a miner in the Coal Industry. So from 2012 to 2018, my online genealogical research was dedicated to building my Montrees Family Tree.

Since receiving my AncestryDNA results in 2016, I discovered in 2018 with the caring help from my paternal biological Uncle, Aunt and half sister, that my Father who signed my birth certificate, is actually my stepfather. This does not change my feelings for the man who raised me, gave me unconditional love and who was married to my Mother for 25 years. I wouldn't change anything in my life and how my parents influenced my growing up. This makes me respect my Parents, cherish the sacrifices they made to keep our family together, raise three children and live to see their grandchildren. I love them both dearly, along with both sets of Grandparents and the numerous Aunts and Uncles present in my life.

Good luck to those who are on the journey to find their roots!
