Bio

FindaGrave is a database of graves (not a database of deceased people.) Just a reminder.

Genealogist and historian of higher education, with special interest in Cleveland area history, my own family tree, friends' family trees, CWRU history, and 19th century and early 20th century American higher education administrators. I've taken many photos in Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent, Ohio, and in mid-2015 I completed a multi-year full sweep of that cemetery (photos of each stone... although it is always possible I missed a few.) I'm working on linking up all of my memorials there. In July 2012, I entered memorials for all readable headstones (not already represented in Find A Grave) in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church cemetery in Garfield Heights, Ohio where my family has a lot of history. I've also taken photos and worked in Woodland Cemetery, Calvary Cemetery, Highland Park, and Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland, and other cemeteries in Cuyahoga and Portage counties as well as places I just happen to visit. If you see errors, typos, or incorrect links - my apologies! Please let me know so I can correct them.

As a practice, I generally don't link memorials I manage to floating memorials (no cemetery assigned) unless there is documentation that the individual does not have a grave (e.g. burial at sea, cemetery washed away.) It's kinda cheating to make a memorial just because you know someone died, but you don't know where the burial took place, so please respect those who do the hard work of matching people to gravesites by records or by foot. After all, the site IS called FindaGrave, so don't add memorials if you didn't... well, you know... find a grave. :)
