RE: your loss
Bless you for your beautiful words...we are devastated, of course. She was a Light, who in the face of her illness, fought with courage and a veritable lust for life - a shining example for us all. She left to escape a body that was destroyed. Her soul is free from pain, worries. Thank you for your compassion.

Yes, I re-read your message...sorry, my own grief of losing my 16 yr. old 1st-born granddaughter to leukemia 2 months ago has me distracted. That makes me very happy, that after sooo many years, the proper ceremony will be performed for him...he helped many...he gave value to my studies and knowledge, and engaged me in many writing projects. If you would like to stop by my F.A.G. memorial for our princess, please do so. Her name is Tiffany Borrero.

Hello, again. Aalafia! I always found it terribly ironic that even though I translated the "Honras de Eggungun" from Spanish to English(the actual rites to be performed for a Palero of padrino Orlando's seniority after their passing)thanks to his forensic vision to give me this service; but his Roman Catholic sister, Lina, did things HER way. Orlando should have been buried STANDING UP, to begin with. Let me not get started on things that I had no control over: I was away in college in Massachusetts when he died of complications from a brain tumor. He had lost his house to Hurricane Andrew, and moved in with Flora Ortega and her family. She has the remnants of his original fundamento; the male ahijados took it apart and shared it. Flora is one of my F.A.G. friends, and has a BIG party ever 12/3. I would love to meet you. Keep in touch, please. This is so true, as my astrologer in India told me: new people from the past...

Alafia! I was 'rayada' in Palo...was not meant to receive ocha; strangely enough, I wound up being a pujari (priestess) anyway, but at the Hare Krsna Temple here in Coconut Grove, making a much desired pilgrimage throughout India. I believe his mother in ocha is Osun, and that is why She is on the marker...anyway it was his sister Lina, a Roman Catholic non-believer, who took charge of his burial, which was NOT according to the rites afforded someone like himself in Palo-the very first major work I translated for Orlando! Alas, my dear sister, such is the Age we live in, nothing makes sense..."Kali" Yuga is what the Vedic scriptures call it. When the King of Chaos (Kali) rules.

Caboyaya, watch over us!!!! I am one of Orlando's female godchildren, had the privilege to serve as his translator, and cook; translated a major book for him, "Honras de Eggungun", was his friend and hung around his house, way down south Homestead. I was in college in Massachusetts in 1996 when he passed, which is why I created his F.A.G. memorial. Miss his physical presence dearly....
