Bio

I grew up in Atlanta, GA, grandson of a Latvian carpenter who escaped the Russian Revolution in 1905 and brought his family to Chicago and descendant of a grandfather whose family went back generations in the rural area of eastern North Carolina and a grandmother who taught music to help pay for the college education in the1920s
of her four children. One of her daughters, the black sheep in the family, enlisted in WWII in the Women's Corps and retired later as a Major in the U.S. Army. My grandmother traveled the world with her and sent me exotic postcards that inspired my life of work, study, and travel abroad. Now in retirement in Naples, FL I'm enjoying exploring the ancestral roots.
