I first became interested in tracing my family tree back in 1977 when I took a side trip through Girard,Ill as a result of an outline of our family tree drawn by my uncle. To my surprise many of my ancestors passed through Morgan and Macoupin County, Illinois with surnames of Clevenger, Hart, Bettis and my surname Corder. Many years I tried to pull together information about our family tree and finally gave up due to lack of time and funding. My 1st cousin's son took the reins and did a wonderful job of piecing it together w/o much help of the internet, and now my son Michael has taken hold of my information and has built a very good family tree using Ancestry.com. I'm still working with him to improve or disprove the family tree as much as I am able to support my son's efforts. He has included DNA testing, which I know little of, and has included both sides of my family as well as his. As I've been retired since 2001, I am feeling relieved this work will continue well after I'm gone. In the meantime I'll continue to do what I can to support the effort of building a reliable Family Tree to pass along to my descendants.
