My best friend, Barbara Laudman Desz became blind as an adult. Her husband Eugene Desz was a funeral director and so Barbara attended many funerals. At one she was seated behind three woman who were talking about their friend, Helen who had died a year before. They were saying how much they missed her and then they started "remember when" Before you know it, they were laughing and having a great time. It turned out that the Helen they were talking about was my Mother. Barbara and I thought this was a wonderful way to be remembered and that whenever one of us died the remaining friend would seek out friends and talk about the one who died. Barbara died too soon after this. On her deathbed, she reminded me of this conversation and how we promised to remember each other. I moved and have lost contact with almost everyone who knew her. However, I talk about her to everyone I know. It keeps her alive for me. I wish you knew her...she was wonderful.
