Bio

Galen Blomster was born September 29, 1942 in Rush City Minnesota to Grant and Frances Blomster. I am married to my wife Linda and have three sons and three grandchildren.

I grew up on the family farm near Harris, Minnesota. I received a B.S. degree from the University of Minnesota and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Purdue University in applied economics. After working for NCR Corp and Magnavox in Ohio and Indiana, I returned to Minneapolis in 1977 working for Norwest/Wells Fargo as a portfolio manager, specializing in asset allocation products. I retired from Wells Capital Management in 2007.

I enjoy hunting, fishing, bowling, farming, gardening and trips to Sweden with my sister, Sharolyn Peterson. Some of the Swedish I heard every day growing up on the farm got put to good use on trips to my “home land”. Annual fishing trips to Canada are always a highlight, as are pheasant hunting trips to South Dakota. I take many weekly trips to the log cabin I had built in Chisago County on land my great grandparents bought from the railroad company in the 1800s. I grew up on a farm in my youth and am fortunate to enjoy a hobby farm in my retirement. My passion after retirement has been writing a book on memories/stories handed down within the family and research of my ancestral tree going back to Sweden in 1600 and Finland in 1500. On trips to Sweden we were able to see and take pictures of where a number of our ancestors lived, plus we stay in close contact with a number of our cousins, several of whom are also interested in genealogy.
