Bio

I was born in Ashland, Wi but raised in northwestern Missouri near what was called Morehouse Ridge/Settlement.
That area was so called due to the large number of ancestors that moved to that then, unsettled area of Missouri in the early part of the 1800's.
My father's name was Max Eugene Morehouse and my grandfather was Andy P. Morehouse. My great grandfather's name was Leman. My great, great grandfather's name was James Harvey Morehouse. He was the son of Charles and Lucinda Morehouse of Delaware County, Ohio. Grandpa J. Harvey was a first cousin to Governor Albert P. Morehouse.
My family is in the process of restoring the old Morehouse family cemetery, located southwest of Hopkins , MO. It is located on a hilltop, in the middle of a cornfield.
The relatives that are buried there are not direct relations but include the parents of Governor Albert (Judge Stephen and his wife, Harriet) and at least 15 or 16 other family members.
Just recently, we had the cemetery surveyed to stop encroachment by the property owner. In Missouri, it is lawful for a land owner to claim a family cemetery in which no burials have taken place for 100 years.
We have been able to stop that process, due to the spreading of the ashes of my cousin Jaime, 3 years ago.
The cemetery is in deplorable condition and nearly all of the stones have been knocked down or are partially buried.
Out of respect for those pioneers who are buried there, my branch of the family, is committed to restoring their resting place.

If you are a direct descendant of Judge Stephen and Harriet Morehouse, we could use any information that you might have to help us. We have a list of known internments that we found through the Nodaway County Historical Society in Maryville, MO and we hope to find out how many of those gentlemen buried there, were veterans of the Civil War.

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
The names that we suspect are:

James Wellington Morehouse
Albert Shelton
Stephen Morehouse
Francis Morehouse

Any information regarding military service of any of these gentlemen, would be of great help.
