I finally heard from Frances Herod (George Herod's second wife). She's 85 yrs. old and doing okay. She doesn't have an address for Melissa and hasn't seen or heard from her in about 20 years. Frances said that Melissa is a loner and prefers it that way. That's so sad to hear. When George died Frances wired Melissa some money so she could come to the funeral. She stayed for a few days, but left after she got her inheritance. A few years later she visited Frances again, stayed for a short time and left after Frances gave her a sizable amount of money. When Frances moved from Tulsa to Owasso OK she had her phone number listed so that Melissa would be able to contact her, but she never has. As far as Frances knows, Melissa never married. I do hope that Melissa's doing all right, but we may never know. My mother corresponded with Frances for many years after George died. Mildred & my mother were first cousins.
When Melissa visited San Bdno it was a couple of years after her mother had died. My mother (Lois Stuive Wienholt) kept in touch with George and his second wife up until his death. If my mother were still alive she could probably tell you more about Melissa. I do remember that Melissa moved away sometime after George remarried. It may have been to go to college or she found a job somewhere. I don't even know if she ever married. I wish I could be of more help. I've wondered every now & then whatever happened to her.
I think you & I are 2nd cousins if I'm figuring that out correctly. Anyway, if you're ever down this way and want to visit good old bankrupt Berdoo, my email is on my public profile.
RE: Dorothy Rose Tabor -- Mildred Tabor Herod You are welcome. I had a photo request and when I fulfilled the request, I photographed the entire lot and transferred family surnames to the person who requested the photo. I can no longer edit the page but if you click on edit on your family member's page and then "Suggest a correction..." aka SAC, you can send the addition to the member who maintains the page. Glad I could help. Red
RE: Dorothy Rose Tabor -- Mildred Tabor Herod Dorothy Fischer Stuive Tabor was my grandaunt. Dorothy's sister, Marie Margaret Fischer, was my grandmother. Dorothy's first husband was Benjamin Stuive. My grandmother married Emanuel Stuive...Benjamin & Emanuel were brothers.
If you want additional information on the Stuive family I'll be glad to email that to you.
I have you listed in my family records as the daughter of Leon Edward Tabor. I'm wondering if you know where your aunt Mildred Herod's daughter, Melissa, is living. Melissa visited my family in San Bernardino CA in about 1979 and I've lost track of her after George Herod died.
