RE: Melvin Taylor dates
Steve,

I blew up my photo, applied all sorts of effects and came to the point where I could argue the case for 1874 but only an argument. I will bow to the documentations and have made the change.

As for linking him to his parents, I will do so but I would prefer that you edit Melvin's memorial, make the changes, and get the credit or any guff.

If I don't see your request for change in a couple of days, I will make them.

Thanks for the info the more the better.

Jim

RE: Melvin Taylor
Hi,

I took another look at the photo and had to change the date of his demise.

If you copy the photo to an editor, like paint, invert the colors, magnify the date of his death, you will find that the last digit is not closed at the left top and bottom. The 8 is a 3. Agree?

Thanks for drawing me to Melvin's photo. I think we got it right this time.

Jim

Two more things.

1-If you need research information about graves within the limits of the City of Beverly, Mass. you may want to contact my friend Dan Driscoll at City hall in Beverly if you have not already done so. If you go to my friends list on my profile page click on his name.

2-If you have questions regarding the Dodge name in general, you may want to contact my friend Norman Dodge also on my friends list. Norman is the person I work with on many of the memorials I create and research. He heads up the Dodge Family Association.

Steve,

I'm sorry, I assumed you were local here to Beverly, Mass.

Below is the link to the Rice Edwards memorial at Dodge Row located in No. Beverly. You must enter via private property (and have permission) and it is VERY DIFFICULT to locate if you do not know exactly which driveway to enter to get back there.

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=edw&GSiman=1&GScid=2322027&GRid=61554589&

Halloweentime 2010 I spent 2 full days photo-documenting at Dodge Row. I had a plot map from my friend at City Hall and he is the one that took me out there, and I went stone-by-stone on the plot map photo-documenting. I even found a few VERY old stones of which no plot existed on the map!

The Rice memorial remains photo-less, which means if there truly ever was an interment at Dodge Row, the gravestone either never existed or is no longer extant/legible. If you click where it says Dodge Row on the Rice memorial you'll get to the main page for the cemetery and you can start clicking names for various memorials. Most memorials where I have added a photo also have plot number which corresponds to the map I had back in 2010.

Hi Steve,
To locate this grave:
1-First: print out (in color) the new photo I have just now uploaded onto his memorial. Take it to the cemetery with you for guidance.
2-I know where the grave is and the stone is lying on it's back at present. The Central Cemetery has many entrances. I always enter on Butman Street near the corner of Dane Street. The gate is located directly across Butman St. from Charnock Street. That being said, drive thru the gate and veer to the left as the lane takes you automatically in this direction. Take the second right and park on the lane not far from where you have just made the turn. Get out with your photo in hand and start looking at the houses and match to the photo. Use the baby blue colored house as your guide. The houses in the photo are along Butman Street across from Central Cemetery.
If you would like to meet me in the cemetery some time I will take you to the grave. I am photographing the entire cemetery section by section and uploading on FindAGrave. I have already completed Dodges Row Cemetery and old Abbott Street Cemetery in Beverly and large sections of others throughout Beverly and beyond. If you have any questions let me know.

Regards,
John Glassford
