Bio

I have been working on my family history since the early 1960s. It began as a very primitive project when I was given the family Bible of my 2X great grandfather. I drew my own charts, group sheets – certainly it was before day of computers. You can imagine how excited I was when I got my first computer – and the very first software I bought was for genealogy. Unfortunately, it took me quite a while to know how important it was to validate my sources. Oh well, live and learn. My dream was always "when I retire", but found I was so busy then that I didn't have the time. It has only been in recent years that I have become more involved in online research and in Find A Grave.

My direct line family surnames are Jetton, Mullins, Buchanan, Ridley, Williams, Furgason, Yeates (Yates), Walker, Waldrep, Elders, Senn, McDonald, Lindsey, McKitrick. My ancestors originated in France and other European countries. They entered the United States long before it was a United States –through New England and on my Mother's side of the family, probably "Charlestown" SC. The westward movement began and some of my ancestors were in what is now Nashville before Tennessee became a state. My particular branch pushed farther west and I was born and raised in West Tennessee, Gibson County.

I attended Cumberland University, Lebanon TN and was formerly employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, was a small business owner and am a retired electrical designer from Square D Co. I am active in Beta Sigma Phi sorority and my church. I am a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and First Families of Tennessee.

I have lived in Murfreesboro, Rutherford County, Tennessee since 1976. As the geographical center of the state of Tennessee, this area is a hotbed for anyone interested in genealogy.
