Bio

Hello. I'm Valerie and I live in California. I'm an artist and a retired newspaper editor. I'm interested in these family memorials: Vinson, Bimberg, Goodwyn, Hooper, Hurd, Smith, Alberson, Hutchinson, Striker, Staley, Mayo, McCrary, Green, Watts, and Rutherford.
I am not a descendent of Alberson, Hooper, Hurd, Green, Mayo, McCrary, Rutherford, Smith, or Watts.

I'very found much Mayo information from a homemade genealogy notebook by Ruth L. Mayo, Oct. 1970. Ruth there states, "What I would call a windfall came as the result of an ad I placed in "The Genealogical Helper," Logan, Utah.
Mrs. Bert Harter of Doyleston, Ohio, answered my ad. She had done extensive research on the Mayos in Virginia and unselfishly gave me all her findings. She later published her article "James Mayo of Virginia" in the April-June 1963 Virginia Genealogist." In it Mrs. Harter states that James Mayo had 11 sons in the American Revolution. She found service records for eight of them ... (however) some records were destroyed by fire. I have had correspondence with Mayos from all over the United States who are also doing family research."

If I manage a memorial for your family member, please request a transfer and I'll be happy to do so. ..Valerie
