Husband & Wife cemetery walker team. Originally got into the find a grave site after discovering a find a grave memorial for a very close family member that lived in a different state whom we lost contact with. We are so appreciative to all of the photo volunteers that have fulfilled our requests and help fill in the blanks of our family tree, so here we are paying it back! We photograph is various areas of California mostly of entire rows of cemeteries and do so on various weekends. All our photographs are copyright free so use them as you wish, of course giving credit is appreciated :) All of our photos are done using a Kodak M350 12MP digital camera. Having done this many photos some are bound to have turned out no so stellar or perhaps can use a re-shoot. Message us if you would like to to re-take a certain headstone and we will try our best. We now try to take at least two photos for each headstone: One to show the stone and inscription and another to show the headstone as well as the area nearby. Anything else, just ask! |
R.I.P & respect always to our departed loved ones, including but not limited to: Virginia M Halbrook "Nana", Gerald James Halbrook "Tata Jerry", Jennie M Reynoso "Nina", Ruperta Campos "Mama", Gerald Wade Johnson, Ira Johnson, Frank Abbott "Papa", Pamela Ann Sequiera, Aimee W., Steve Delatorre & Anthony Delatorre and all those we love and lost far too early

It's a weird stone, usually the last name appears curved on the top, not the first. Maybe it was too long? Either way I corrected the order of his name to reflect Ancestry.com records and the spelling from the headstone. I also added the birth year from ancestry.com, thanks for the legwork.

Well some people say rest in peace and I guess you could find rest in your dormitory. It is a rather strange word choice though! Thanks for confirming, I appreciate it. =) Megan

Just wanted to double check with you that the plots in Saint Marys Cemetery are Dormitory V.

Hi Mr. & Mrs. D.! Thanks for your questions about Mary C. Judge.
The California Death Index (CDI) for Mary Catherine Judge, born on July 06, 1865 in California and passed away on March 02, 1951 is the source of the middle name.
The same index says she died at Alameda county (code #01). This is similar to the 1930 and 1940 census records that indicate that she lived in Berkeley, Alameda county w/ her daughter Lauretta/Loretta in 1930, 1935 and 1940.
The CDI also says her father's last name was Wherity and her mother's maiden name was Kelly. Her daughter, Loretta's CDI says the mother's maiden name is Wherity. The same name, Wherity, is listed on her daughter, Irene's CDI. Her son leo's marriage record to Miss Sommers has a slightly different spelling of her last name "Wherety". The only source with a different maiden name is her daughter, Mary "Mary junior's", marriage record that says Mary C. Kelly. But Kelly is her Irish born, maternal grandmother. This same 1921 marriage record of "Mary junior" to Mr Dunn says her father, Matthew Judge, was born at Gibsonviile, California and her mother, Mary C. Kelly [should say Wherity] was born at Sierra Valley, California. I believe Sierra Valley was later renamed Sierraville, Sierra county, California. I hope this info helps, Anneg
