Bio

I have enjoyed and been pleased to provide photos of gravesites. As an amateur genealogist, I love trying to connect individuals with their pasts.

I'm a Virginia native, with deep roots on my mother's side, dating to original English colonists. We affectionately refer to my dad's side as the mongrel side, with a mixture of Scot's Irish and German that made their way down the Shenandoah Valley to the mountains of Virginia, plus a mixture of mountain folk from the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. Add to that the legend of Cherokee a connection. This was confirmed in 2018 with DNA testing, to our surprise!

I am personally interested in information on Geer/Gear, Black, Hawkins and Worley families dating to the 1800's in Western NC. But love the connections I've made with other Find-a-Grave volunteers.
