Bio

I have always been fascinated with my family's history. As a little girl my grandmother, Rosa Lee would entertain me with her stories of how it used to be and would show me pictures of the people she talked about in her stories. You might say I became obsessed with my ancestors at an early age. Most of my ancestors lived around the Atlanta area in Dekalb and Fulton Counties; however, I have recently discovered that on my fathers side that my great great grandfather was Captain M.S. Howell in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He and his wife Laura left Stephens County, GA in the late 1800's and moved to Atlanta with their three children, Annie, Paul, and Grover. Howell Street in Atlanta is believed to have been named after him. Laura's mother, Jane Wood was half Cherokee Indian. She would leave for months at a time and go to the Cherokee Indian Reservation and teach the Indian children how to read and write. My maternal bloodline is Nicholson, Parker, Wallace, Waits, Kennedy, and Macomson. My paternal bloodline is Mills, Nalley, Sorrow, Howell, Wallace, and Wood

***Update 2024*** Over the past several years I have done a lot of research on my paternal side. I have researched the Sorrow lineage all the way back to the original William Sorrow that settled in the State of Georgia in what is now Oglethorpe County. Additionally, I have begun doing extensive research on the Garrett Family that came from Laurens, SC. I have ongoing research on the Mercer Family as well. Wesley Robinson Garrett married Elizabeth Andrea Mercer in Newton Co in the early 1800's and that is how the 2 lineages meet. If you are related to any of these blood lines feel free to send me a message. Thanks!
