Memorials on Find A Grave helped me so much when I started to research my own family I decided I should give back a little and do some myself.
You have my permission to use any photos taken by me and posted on FindAGrave for your personal use. You do not need to give me credit. Also if you see a memorial I created and you would like to maintain it I'll happily transfer it to you.
Charles J Keitt photo Thank you for taking the photo of Charles Keitt's headstone. Is it possible for you to email me a larger photo of the headstone so I can add it to my memorial web page about his service? My web page is www.tohonorourfallen.com. Thank you.
I just checked my messages and read yours. Thank you for your kindness in providing the correct cemetery. Went to view your memorial and it is missing so I guess you must have deleted it. If that is the case, please be so kind as to post your headstone photo(s) on # 100706704. That would be much appreciated.
RE: Ferman Patton Fairview Cemetery You are welcome. I just happened to be up there for a few days and it was a nice day for a walk. I added Jerry Patton, who was buried by Ferman. I could not find the other Pattons who were requested as I didn't have a lot of time, unfortunately.
I just tried to transfer this memorial to you (twice) and it kicked back that I am not authorized to do this transfer stating that I may have already done a transfer. It is possible and I don't remember doing that. I thought I waited for you permission. Guess I'll have to keep this in my control. Please feel free pass on anything you aunt would like to add and I'll make sure it placed in the Find a Grave memorial.
RE: Samuel/Samul Shinn Transfer accomplished. May your aunt have much to add to your family research. If she still her mental abilities she can be a great source for wonderful family stories from her living memory.
RE: Phoebe Jane and Samuel Shinn Feel free to use the photos that I placed in Find a Grave. Did you note the spelling I used for Samuel was as it is seen on the marker SAMUL. I suspect that this may have been an error by the person who made the marker. If his correct name should have the "E" I will change it in the memorial with a note about the misspelling.
RE: Billings Cemetery Thanks Vickie! I never understood people that want permission for every picture they take to be used. That's not about genealogy but ego. I live south of Lexington but was out in Estill County taking photos of the many cannon ball furnaces from the Civil War (and anything else that caught my eye:) I always look into local cemeteries everywhere I go and if they're small enough I document the entire cemetery. You're definitely right about how much time the research can take! There have been many times were I spend entire days on a single family. Sometimes it's just one person trying to sort through all of the information on two people with the same name and similar histories to be sure I get it right. There are definitely times it turns into a real mystery hunt :) I'm glad that it helped you with your family. I spend a lot of time locating small family cemeteries, which there are a couple of hundred in Jessamine county alone, that have little to no useful information on exact location (and often just one or two stones.) I found my paternal side of my family on findagrave and since I do photography I just wanted to pay it forward. There just aren't words to describe how finding your ancestors feels. Glad to be of help. If you have any requests you want to make for the area feel free to ask. I might not be able to get it done right away but I will get to it. ~Michelle
