Family history is such a great hobby. I got bitten by the bug when I was 16 and helping my grandmother make pedigree charts on the backs of grocery store posters. Those were the days of typewriters. Although we had to sometimes wait weeks to get replies to our letters, it was exciting when that birth or death certificate arrived. The trips to family history libraries were fun, but I don't miss scrolling through miles of microfilm! Now we sit in the comfort of our living rooms and search the Internet from our laptops.

I live in southeastern Idaho out in the middle of potato and grain fields. Cows munch contentedly next door in the spring. We don't farm or ranch but I love living in the country.

I'm a retired librarian and lawyer. I teach online family history classes for a local university. I have five children and lots of grandchildren.

One item on my someday-maybe list is to visit all the cemeteries where my ancestors are buried. Find-A-Grave is a great resource for that!
