|Harry Miller||Matthew's Death and SSN|
I have found a California Death Index for Matthew McDowell, b. 6 Nov 1884, PA; d. 11 Oct 1957, Los Angeles, CA; Mother: Peckham, Father McDowell. His SSN listed there: 435306362.
I found three different SSN for him and I chose not to mention it to you as thought that you probably knew it. One of his SSN's is listed above. There are two U.S. Soc. Sec. Applications and Claims Index, 1936-2007 records for him. One recorded 7 Apr 1953, Matthew W McDowell, b. 6 Nov 1884, PA, SSN 436225260; the other, recorded 10 Apr 1953, Matthew W McDowell, b. 6 Nov 1884, PA, SSN 435306362. I never did find a U.S. Soc. Sec. Index for him.
I have noted that you have entered a findagrave memorial for him #167112563.
|Harry Miller||Belle's Marriage|
Another newspaper article, Bolivar (NY) Breeze, 12 Apr 1917. Ceres. A happy marriage took place in Olean, Sat. afternoon, April 7th. Mr Henry Holly of Myrtle was united in marriage to Miss Belle McDowell of Red Bluff, California. She was a former resident of Myrtle and Ceres, but went west with her parents, M/M Wilson McDowell, a few years ago. The groom is a hustling young farmer.
|Harry Miller||RE: Joyce E. Holly Dunshine|
Ran across the following : Portland (NY) Review, Thursday, 7 Nov 1929. M/M Henry Holly and baby daughter of Myrtle left by auto for Cassa Grande, Ariz. where they will spend some time with her mother, Carrie McDowell and her brother, Mathew. This will be Henry's first vacation and Mrs Holly's first trip home since her marriage, 13 years ago.
I think that I told you that I found Carrie listed in the 1930 US census, Casa Grande. Carrie McDowell, age 64, widowed, librarian.
Also, Mathew's 12 Sep 1918 registration for the WWI Draft, listed him and his mother, living in Casa Grande. He started to list his nearest relative and Mr. & Mrs.; but Xd out the Mr. and listed Mrs. Carrie McDowell.
His 1941 Registration for the WWII Draft was from 213 Stoner, Shreveport, Caddo, LA.; listed his birth as 6 Nov 1884, "Cataragust" PA. (Should have been Cattaraugus NY. (or was he born in PA)He listed his wife, Carrie, as a contact.
|Harry Miller||Joyce E. Holly Dunshine|
Have you ever figured how it is that Belle's daughter, Joyce and Joyce's husband Jerald M (John) Dunshie, both died, in 1995 and 1998 respectively, in Casa Grande, Pinal, AZ, the same place that Belle's father Wilson McDowell, died in 1926? I have noted that both Joyce and her husband were buried in McKean County, PA.
You suggested that Carrie came to visit in the Myrtle area in 1924/1925. I found her in a 1930 U.S. Census, Casa Grande, Pinal, AZ, age 64, widowed, librarian, living alone. I haven't been able to find Carrie in 1920.

Maybe you should make a statement in Angeline's memorial that The Pennsylvania , Death Certificates, 1906-1963,lists her death as being in Ceres, McKean County and her burial in Annin Creek Cemetery. Her death certificate lists the Informant being Mrs (or possibly Miss) H. Hulley, Little Genesee, NY.
|Harry Miller||Angeline's Burial|
CONGRATULATIONS.. I note your entry of a memorial for Angeline at Annin Creek Cemetery. I have spent a couple hours this morning trying to find her 2d husband's name; finding him just after lunch and then tracing him to his findagrave memorial. It was there that I found his link to Angeline and your new entry. Have you confirmed her burial there beyond her death certificate entry? Again, That's Great. Harry
