My interest sparked in researching my family history when my boss asked me to research surnames for his family. After researching many names and getting really good at this, I have decided to finally work on my family history. My mother did not tell me too much about her childhood and about her parents. I did know that both were deceased at a young age which left my mother at age 19 married and with child to take care of her 4 sibblings. I am very interested in researching into this and have found much on my own. My maternal grandmother's surname is Kowalewski (all I know) and my maternal grandfather is Wòffler, Woeffler, Dahlhaus. There could be more and I am sure I will find it through my researching.

My father is going to be much more difficult since his heritage comes from Azerbaijan, bordering between Europe and Asia in the Caucasus region. This will be a challenge.

Other surnames I am researching on my husband's side is Pickhardt, most come from Hückeswagen, Germany and Fischer are from Krefeld, Germany, Haslinger from Austria, Wendling and others I will be posting once I research them.

So this is basically how I started. I find that this is so interesting and there are so many stories to tell. I use Ancestry and find this has helped me so much.

I have taken photo shots of headstones that are mostly family and I have also taken pictures of non family members.
