Bio

My name is Larry David Dyess, Sr.
I was born in Columbus, GA and I have lived in Jacksonville, FL since 1959.
I research Family names Dyess, Phelps, Russ, Scoven, Brown and Hightower.
In 2010, when I became interested in finding burial places of my relatives, I used several internet search inquiries with good results.
I was able to locate and visit a number of cemeteries in Lower Alabama containing grave sites of my father’s families .
Shortly after, I discovered FindAGrave and was able to expand my research by finding the one cemetery in Macon GA that contained many grave sites of my mother’s Scoven family, Cedar Ridge Cemetery adjacent to Evergreen Cemetery in south Macon..
Most of the documentation of Cedar Ridge had been contributed by one person, a resident of Macon.
After contacting that person, I realized I had stumbled onto a great amount of information about my mother’s families, Scoven and Brown.
I felt an enormous amount of gratitude that such an effort of documentation had been made by a complete stranger.
Strangers no more, we now work together to maintain Cedar Ridge as it is deemed a private cemetery and is not cared for by city, county or state departments.
I am making an effort to aid other searchers find their loved ones final resting places.
