Master Sergeant Martha "Marti" L. Mace enlisted in the United States Army on 25 June 1978. She performed her Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gordon, GA. Upon completion of her training, she was awarded the Telecommunications Center Operator Specialist 72E in 1979.
Her first assignment was with the 95th Division, Drill Sergeant Unit, Guymon, OK 25 Jun 1979-27 Dec 1982 as 76Y Sply Sgt.
USA: 28 Dec 1982 to Ft. Benning, GA on Kelly Hill and was a Unit Armorer, then on to COMSEC (Communication Security) Custodian for Blue Team, in Headquarter's 197th IN Bde then continued on to Camp Pendleton 22nd S & S Co, Giessen, Hessen, West Germany, then to Frankfurt Rhein Mein, Germany till 25 Jun 1986. In Jul 1986, she then went into the 214th Medical BN on Patomic COARNG 1986 Jul 17th as 91B/C Medical, LVN
(Licensed Vocational Nurse) till reclass to 95B Military Policeman and went to 220th Military Police Co in Golden, CO and was deployed to the Persian Gulf War to Hafar-Al-Baten, Saudi Arabia 03 Jan 1991-29 Sep 1991 on Saudi/Iraq border. She lived in tent city around 402th EPW (Enemy Prisoner of War) Camp. She remained on Active Duty through the COARNG and worked security with Federal Police on Fitzsimmon's Army Medical Center, Aurora, CO thru the next year. Then Transferred into WYARNG Cheyenne, Wyoming and re-classed a Chaplain Assistant 56M Cp Williams, UT 1992, then on to STARC, Helena, MT, then BNCOC was at Ft. Riley, KS. ANCOC was at the Marine Corps Depot, Parris Island, and Outside of Ft. Jackson, SC. Then mobilized to Ft. Riley, KS 07 Apr 20080407-20110406 with 1ID BRO (1st Infantry Division, Big Red One) taking on financial for all BRO in Ft. Knox, KY, Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, Ft. Sill, OK and Ft. Riley, KS.
Additionally served as an Honor Guard for WYARNG, CA, NCOIC, as well as Wildland Firefighter, E.M.T./Medic.
