Find a Grave ID

Bio

I am interested in finding my family history, and helping others do the same. My family hails from Missouri while ancestors go back to Germany, Ireland, Scotland, England, and a little Dutch with a drop of French.

Surnames from Mom's side = Grone, Meyer, McFadden, Thelen, Gardner... many in Calvary Cemetery of St Louis city. Most arriving to the US in the 1800s.

Surnames from my Dad's side = McKee, Bennett, O'Brien, Pearson, Isaacs, Gatewood. Many arriving to the USA since the 1600s.

I enjoy populating FindaGrave with photos and memorials. I will go to a cemetery and photograph 60-120 graves in an area. I upload photos for records needing that, and often find that 5-10% of the graves I photograph are not in the database so I create them. Recently I took 220 photos in Resurrection Cemetery, and added 20 new memorials.

I like including some photos of groups of graves to assist with establishing relationships.

I am a naturalist, so love walking the peaceful cemeteries. I was a database manager in previous jobs, so I enjoy data management aspect of this.

I try to mark all veterans as such.

My favorite cemeteries seem to be Oak Grove (it's full of woodpeckers and trees) on the Rock Road and Calvary in North St Lois city (where my elder relatives are mostly buried).

I also go to Lake Charle Park cemetery on the Rock Road across from Oak Grove. I found that many graves in Section 1 were not in the database in 2021/2022.
