Bio

I have been working on my ancestry since 2012 and am very grateful for the work others have done in creating pages and providing photos of my ancestors' graves. Thank you.

I try to update memorials of relatives when I come across a memorial missing information (eg. no link to parents/spouse, no location for birth/death, maiden name).

I recently found out how to access birth, death, marriage, and census records in the Bas-Rhin department of France, where almost a quarter of my ancestry comes from. I have been adding birthdates and locations for many Alsatian families that settled in northern Shelby and southern Auglaize Counties. I noticed that many came from a few towns that are close together: Wimmenau, Erckartswiller, Lichtenberg, and Rothbach (the first three are within 3 miles of each other and the farthest distance is 8 miles from Erckartswiller to Rothbach). I have long wondered whether there is a connection behind their emigration. In April 2015 I began collecting information about all of these families, not just the ones I'm descended from (Metz, Elsass, Wilt, Wildermuth). I hope to eventually establish how the families are related and the path each travelled from France to Shelby/Auglaize Counties and maybe make a book or website to share this information. The other families include (I will expand the list as I come across more): Klopfenstein, Helmlinger, Leininger, Scherer, Geyer, Zorn, Zweibel, Bonnoront, Gross, Keis, Iseman, & Regula.
