Staff of the Dickerson Room of the Union County Public Library (Monroe, NC) from time to time would like to add images from our files to existing memorials or even to create memorials using information, again, from our files. You may use any of the photos as long as you keep them 'as is' - this means keeping any tags or labels that have been added and also not cropping the image.

We regret that we are unable to do extensive personal research for those desiring this function, however, we are happy to answer brief questions, i.e., where to search for answers, do you have any information on the [surname] family, a quick peek into our marriage record books by Frances & Otha Small or "When was Union County, NC, formed?" (answer: 1842).

We will respond with details from obituaries that you find on our index at our web site. (Details such as date of death, where buried, parents' names, survivors' names & more). Please see "Details Request Form" to fill out and submit electronically to us.

We also fill obituary requests for those who submit the request form and fee per instructions at our web site. The fee covers searching, copying and postage for mailing up to two obituaries. You may also call us to ask questions of an obituary that we have in the file as long as that obituary is easily found by us at the time of your call (this would mean we cannot look through the Williams, Smith, or other large surname files). Some acceptable questions via phone: Are parents listed & who are they? Where is the deceased buried? What is the name of the spouse?

Please keep in mind that we work a public desk & are here for in-house patrons & cannot be kept on the phone for a lengthy time.

We try hard to share information on Find A Grave memorials so that many have access to it instead of one or two.

There are many other links at our web site, many of them free - please explore!
