My retirement project is genealogy. I am a direct descendant of Peter Brown of the Mayflower 1635 and numerous other Brown's that came over from England. A number of my descendants fought in the civil war and landed at Plymouth Rock in the 1630's. My descendants lived all over the Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont areas. Mostly the New England area!
On my paternal side, my grandfather was a "DeClercq", as spelled in Belgium. The spelling was also DeClerk, DeClerck , DeClarke and DeClark, the Americanized version.
