Bio

I have 100s of historical pictures and letters that I own, mostly from Maine. I have made substantial contributions to the Maine State Archives and Maine State Museum where some of my collections are on display. If you are looking for more than just a location service and picture of a cemetery gate and stone, I recommend you communicate with a historical and/or research organization rather than a location service like Find a Grave.

Find a Grave loses a lot because they choose not to allow pre-1923 information including letters and pictures from CDVs on the site. I think humans should be remembered as they were in life, not only as a picture of a stone.

Here is a copy of the content from an e-mail I have from the US copyright office:

"A work first published prior to 1923 would be the public domain in the United States.

When a work is in the public domain, there are no restrictions as to its use, and anyone can utilize it as they wish - with no restrictions as to copying, preparing derivative works or distributing copies and without regard for the other exclusive rights of the former copyright owner as enumerated in Section 106 of the copyright law."

Best regards,
