Charles (Chuck) Sherrill was born in 1959 in Euclid, Ohio. His family's roots are all in Middle Tennessee. He attended Ohio University and Case Western Reserve University earning master's degrees in History and Library Science. He has published numerous books on Tennessee history and genealogy, including "Tennessee Convicts" (records of the State Penitentiary) and "The Reconstructed 1810 Census of Tennessee." In 2010 he was appointed State Librarian and Archivist of Tennessee, a post he continues to hold (2019). He is the father of Andrew Mason, Peter Willis and Benjamin Henson Sherrill.
