Retiring in 2014, I have found a new pastime in helping others research their ancestors. All photo's I have submitted may be used without my permission. Any edits requested should be submitted by clicking on the "Suggest Edits" button just below the Memorial ID at the top of the memorial. There is also a "Suggest other corrections" button here to send me a more detailed explanation if desired. Please use this to request a transfer of a memorial - I will be glad to transfer if not a close relative of mine.

November/December 2023 - I have begun to add and update memorials at Grandview Cemetery just south of Austin, Minnesota. I have discovered that many GPS locations are incorrect and I am trying my best to correct them.

A few years ago many, many GPS locations were incorrectly entered on Grandview Find A Grave memorials from one or more cell phone photographs from a volunteer group when uploaded. It has been somewhat difficult to determine which memorials are affected by these uploads. Some uploads by the volunteer group were correct, others were not.

I will be sending many edit requests to many different contributors asking to edit incorrect GPS locations by comparing the incorrect locations with locations I intend to visit in the future and/or with headstone photos I have already taken personally. This may take quite a bit of time. Find A Grave has made it difficult to correct a GPS location unless it is done this way. Incorrect GPS locations on memorials do not help anyone!!

August/September 2022 - FYI - Oakwood Cemetery in Austin, Minnesota has upgraded their online database (search "Oakwood Cemetery Austin, Minnesota") to include Birth Location, Age, Date of Death, Date of Interment, Burial Section, and Lot Number. The database contains nearly 12,000 entries but is also a "work in progress" as many names have been omitted that were listed on the previous version. Searches for entries on the online database between names starting with MAL and MAY could return empty, as well as those between MIC and MILD, and MILT and MLEN. Searches for entries starting with SCOV and later will result in "hit or miss" at best. I would venture to guess there are nearly 3,000 entries that have been excluded from Oakwood's online database.
