J. Edward Shiok is a writer, editor, photographer, and explorer based in Alaska. A native of New England, he holds an MFA from the University of Alaska Anchorage, as well as degrees in World Literature and Philosophy from Castleton University in Vermont. He is currently working on a book about the men who served in and around the Marine Corps 2nd and 8th Defense Battalions during WWII. His research here is predominantly related to that effort.
