I am retired and enjoy searching family histories. I live in Berrien County Michigan and am willing to search Berrien and Van Buren counties for desired cemetery photos. In special circumstances and good weather I might consider a wider area.|
NOTE: I grant my permission for the use of any grave stone photos I take. If my photo disappoints, I will remove if requested through suggested edits button.
If you submit an obituary, please include the source, i.e. the newspaper with date published.
Please do not hesitate to suggest corrections. Mistakes happen to all of us. Just try to be kind about it and I will correct ASAP.
If my entries are your family/friend, please request transfer using the edit button. I am happy to oblige.
I especially try to find duplicate entries (even my own mistakes) and suggest removal of those duplicates. I believe most duplicates are unintentional.
Rose Hill Cemetery in Berrien Springs MI is my current pet project.
My biggest wish in F.A.G. is that someone will list the graves of my husband's ancestors Joseph and Betsey Jillson. Their probable birthdates would be about 1800 to 1810. They lived in the Albany, NY area.

I think that B? on the gravemarker is actually a D. Arthur is the son of David and Lucinda Daniels. He is recorded in the Michigan Deaths and Burials Index as David A Daniels.
Thanks for your time.

I suppose the family could get a military marker and have it set somewhere else as a cenotaph.

Re: Military marker.
No. There are no individual tombstones for the mass burial sites. Burials are in trenches, and once all the trenches are full, they go back to the beginning, compress them, and start over. There is a brief period of time where the family could have had him disinterred and moved if they had the interest and means, but the nature of Hart Island makes it the final location for those living off the grid, homeless, addicted, mentally ill, destitute, unidentified, or otherwise unclaimed. I have a virtual cemetery of veterans buried there. It is particularly sad for them since they were entitled to a military burial, but someone has to take the steps to make it happen, and no one did. Groups like Missing in America are working to at least get the unclaimed cremains buried with the appropriate honors, but those on Hart Island will be there forever unless claimed pretty promptly by family.

Sorry! I did not realize it was a duplicate. He has made quite the mess hasn't he? I suspect he was kicked off the site, and for good reason. I have submitted that duplicate and others for merging. Maybe they will get tired of hearing about it and delete/merge them into one. Thanks for letting me know!
