Bio

I want to thank all the contributors to find a grave. Monument pictures I take are for sharing. Please give credit to the contributor who took the photos when you share. My goal was to update my family. I had many photos and some older obituaries I wanted to share. Little did I know how addictive this web site could be and what a grave seeker I would become. It all started when I saw my brother Johnnie Davis and cousin Philip Davis were missing from the website. One led to another and my family was far from being complete. I found so many family links that were missing and I especially liked when I found parents for the little ones and was able to link them together. My family Davis, Trammell, Allen, Booher, Hook, Bridges, Brinton, Hays, Kauble, my husbands family Nichols, Stanton ,Magee, Hensley, Regan, Pierson.
To honor my great great great great Aunt Nancy Bridges Haynes who was the first grave in the Old Eagleville Cemetery known as Memorial West Cemetery and other pioneer family members I would like to share the Lone Pilgrim
I came to the place where the lone pilgrim lay,
And pensively stood by his tomb,
When in a low whisper I heard something say,
"How sweetly I sleep here alone.
The tempest may howl and the loud thunder roar,
And gathering storms may arise,
But calm is my feeling at rest is my soul.
The tears are all wiped from my eyes.
The cause of my Master compelled me from home.
No kindred or relative nigh.
I met the contagion and sank to the tomb,
My soul flew to mansions on high.
Go tell my companion and children most dear,
To weep not for me now I'm gone.
The same hand that lead me through scenes most severe,
Has kindly assisted me home."

It's hard to know where the origional lyric came from it in part is engraved on Nancy Bridges Haynes stone in 1854. I found it sung by Bob Doylan & Doc Watson.
