Bio

I have always enjoyed exploring old cemeteries - possibly because I grew up so close to such a beautiful cemetery with a pond and ducks and swans. I remember spending a lot of time there as a child, walking, riding bikes, feeding the ducks. Cemeteries are so peaceful. I love seeing the unique designs of headstones, the poignant passages inscribed, mementos of love left by friends and family, and imagining - based on the birth and death dates and family buried nearby - what the residents' lives might have been like.

I often get funny looks when explaining why I am a Find A Grave volunteer, but it doesn't bother me. I wouldn't do it if I didn't enjoy it. I find that it gives me a greater appreciation for life in general. Not only that, but looking for specific headstones -- often a handful out of hundreds -- is good exercise, and a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. And honestly, I'm just happy to help.
