Bio

I am a retired educator who loves history and genealogy. I have liked cemeteries since I was a child, and my mother took me every year to decorate family graves. I still decorate the same graves every year even though it is a 200-mile round trip to do so. Now I have found a way to visit them and help others.

My family is mostly from Centre County, PA. Family names are Lyons, Weber, Pletcher, Miller, Confer, Cottle, and Yearick. My mother is Mary Weber Lyons(FAG# 46400869) and my father is Dr. Torrence Bryan Lyons ( FAG# 46400913). Both were born and raised in Howard, Centre County, PA. I seem to be the one in the family designated to carry on the search for ancestors.
In 2000 I wrote a book about my mother's side of the family and printed it for family members. It is called " The Peddler's Legacy--The story of J. Balser Weber of Centre County, PA with chapters on Pletcher and Yearick" It was over 200 pages and had 83 pictures. A copy is available in the Bellefonte Library--Pennsylvania Room.
My father's family was harder to trace since they were so poor, but with the aid of a cousin, I found out I was a descendent of John and Pricilla Alden who came over on the Mayflower. I did the documentation and joined the society in 2015. I wish my father had known.
I will consider it an honor to be buried in Schenck Cemetery among so many family members. The cemetery was created by my 3rd Great grandfather in 1795 to bury a young son.
I try to take pictures of tombstones in local cemeteries in Lancaster County, PA or in Centre County, PA and put them on the web. If anyone would like to use the pictures or take over a memorial, I would be glad to share.

Cemeteries where names were added and that are photographed:

Elizabethtown, Lancaster County, PA:
2016 Masonic Homes Cemetery,
2018 Masonic Village Columbarium and Mount Tunnel Cemetery.

Centre County, PA Cemeteries
I have slowly been going through the books that the CCGS has published and adding names and missing information (if available). I expect to finish all 18 books in 2024. So far I have added 9,500+ names and added 13,000+ pictures. It has been a huge project.
