My name is Gwen (Katterman) Kuncaitis. I was born in Detroit, Michigan, grew up in the Downriver area and moved with my husband to the Dallas, Texas area in 1989.

I have always been interested in our family history, and used to joke with our sons that our family tree had "root rot" because we really knew nothing about where our family came from beyond knowing that my maternal grandmother came from Finland in the early 1920s, my paternal great grandfather was adopted in Tawas City, MI in the late 1890s and my paternal grandmother lived in a Canadian Convent and came back into the states before Prohibition ended.

I am pretty new at this genealogy thing, and was very excited when I found this web site. I hope to continue adding to the web site and possibly connect with family members that we have lost contact with or to connect with new ones!
