Bio

The West Calaveras County towns of Burson, Wallace, Valley Springs, Campo Seco, Paloma, Milton, Camanche, and Jenny Lind have a long and colorful history that needs to be preserved, cherished and made available to its citizens as well as to the citizens of the rest of the county, the State of California and elsewhere. The Society for the Preservation of West Calaveras History (SPWCH, Inc.) was formed in 2006 as a nonprofit educational association to celebrate that history by acquiring items of historical interest, preserving and restoring such items, disseminating knowledge of the area's history to the general public and to function as a resource for students, historians, governmental agencies and others. One of our projects conducted by founder Sal Manna is to document the final resting places of any military veteran of America's 19th century wars who lived in Calaveras County. Find A Grave has been an invaluable resource for this effort.
