In 2014, we decided to renovate our yard, as we were doing that we came across a headstone for a Theresa, wife of C.D. Shearer, concerned that we had a body buried on our property that was unknown to us or someone had stolen a headstone, we contacted our local library.

While researching Theresa we came across findagrave.com that showed her at the Lincoln Charter Township Cemetery. However when we called them we were told that they had no record showing her buried there. We found out later that they had no records of who was buried in the oldest parts of this cemetery because they had lost all of their records in a fire.

The end results were that her husband had replaced his original hand-carved marker for a new one later in his life. The Township had been trying to update their records but because of shortage of personnel it was having to be done on "when we can" bases. I decided at that time to record as many of those markers as I could since I felt that no one should be forgotten or left behind. So that's how I got started and am still going, I found something I really enjoy doing and hopefully helps others find family they may have lost.
