Ever since I was little, I've enjoyed visiting cemeteries with my Grandaddy. This probably seems like an odd hobby for a child to have had, but I just found it so interesting to walk amongst the gravestones and try to imagine what the people were like who had passed on before us and to pay our respects to them. I credit my late Grandaddy for instilling a sense of respect for history in all of us in the family, and now as an adult, I'm completely addicted to tracing our family tree as far back as I can! It is fascinating to me that we've been able to trace our roots back through participants in historical events such as the Alamo, Civil War, and the Revolutionary War. I hope to eventually be able to trace our family back to our roots in Scotland and Ireland. Our family is from east Texas, but also has roots in Kentucky, Virginia, S. Carolina, Scotland and Ireland.
