Bio

I think it's important to preserve the history of our family so we can pass it on to those who come after us.

I became interested in ancestry when helping my father, Jack C Holt, determine his Holt lineage. It was a long process. I started with one of our first Holt ancestors in Louisiana, William H Holt. He was born in Virginia in 1799 and died in Rapides Parish in 1870. His parents were William Holt and Elizabeth Sistare of New London, Connecticut. They were married in Connecticut in 1796, but were living in Belleville, Virginia in 1798. Once that was established, it was easy to go back many generations. Through this process, I found a love for detective work and family history.
