Bio

I was born in Chicago, Cook Co. Illinois in 1946 to Edward Wherry and Eileen M. Groth. I was the only girl and had 2 older and 2 younger brothers. I grew up at Maryville Academy in Des Plaines, Il.and High School was in an all girls Catholic boarding school and graduated in 1965 in Beaverville, Il. I went to Mundelein College for 1 yr. then moved to Olathe, Ks in 1974. Went to a Jr. college then on to Kansas University at the Lawrence,Ks. campus but only finished my AA degree plus one yr. My 2 children were becoming teens and of course as a single parent I was working full time at a Detention facility for teens. I worked there for 28 yrs. Loved every minute of my time there but was able to retire early so I took that path and became a volunteer at my Church which has an apartment bldg for retirees and those in transition for the Johnson Co. Kansas area. After taking care of my mother for 19 yrs.,she passed away this past Jan. 20th, 2015 at age 92. I am now completely retired and love Ancestry so much I may start helping out locally for Find a Grave. I will visit my 1st local Cemetery in Olathe, Ks. and take some pictures of some of the older graves. LOVE being this age now. Marilyn
