My introduction to Find a Grave came just after discovering the resting place of my Grandfather George K Fisher. I walked in his footsteps around Astoria where he lived when his daughter, my Mother, was a child. I never knew him because he died when my Mother was 8. Finding his resting place was such a meaningful experience for me and It gave me the connection that I had been longing for. I just recently discovered that I am part of the Fisher-Orwig Family (THANKS TO SHEILA and LIISA at the Clatsop County Historical Society and my MOM! Although my Grandfather's grave was found independently from Find a Grave, I'm thrilled and grateful for the information about his parents and other family members that I have learned from Find a Grave and contributors!
