Bio

Although residing and making my living for the past fifty years in Charlotte, I am a Gastonia, North Carolina, native who has made the study of regional history a lifelong avocation. I have written and published three books, one on my family, one on the textile industry of the region, and one on the history of Gastonia and Gaston County. Also, over the years, I have written extensively valuable historical information and documentation through newspaper columns and have assisted national public television, as well as state and local educational and cultural institutions, in historical research on this unique region of North Carolina.

Along the way, I have collected considerable genealogical data on a limited number of closely interconnected family units, primarily in North Carolina and South Carolina, which I am glad to share through this site and with others.
