Silas Holmes was prominent in Detroit in the 1850's and I love finding new things about his life; Cassius Chittenden has a rich background dating back to their arrival in the 1630's, Henry Schammel was prominent (good and bad) in San Francisco around 1850; and my Portuguese relatives(Rodrigues)who came over from the Azores at the turn of the century.
