Bio

I am very interested in my family genealogy, which consist of Mayo, Lewis, Camp, Preacher, Skinner, Bryant, Hicks, Adams, Bowman, Moss, Lee, Garrett, Commander, Ammons, Singletary, Brown, Williams, Cranford and many more names from my family tree I am working on. My family story and roots spans from Apalachicola to Pensacola all the way to northern Tennesee and all the states in between. A majority of my family lived or lives in Geneva, Dale, Henry, Covington Counties in Alabama, and Franklin, Bay, Walton, Jackson, and Holmes, and Escambia Counties in Florida.

A little about me: I was born and raised in Apalachicola, Florida. I currently live in Blakely, Georgia, so I am not far from my Florida Roots. I have been married to my wonderful husband going on 23 years.
We have 2 awesome sons, our oldest is married and is the United States Army, and our youngest is a hardworking man trying to find his place in this crazy world.

DNA test kits are the best thing that was ever invented next to bacon and mashed potatoes. I have met and found so many relatives in that last 4 years, it is unreal! I suggest everyone take a test and dig in to your roots and find out where you come from. I encourage people who are not sure, to take one, my maternal line had a father that was missing, and we found him and his family through DNA!! Embrace your families past, learn from it, and share it!! Never be ashamed of the past you find, that is why it is called the past. Like I said before, embrace, learn, and share.

My goal is to add as much information as possible to a person's grave profile to help future researchers get started. Family Search has just started putting death certificates online, and I am trying to get everyone a copy. I have also started to put actual obituaries or articles from the newspapers on a persons profile as well. I do extensive research on every one of the family members before I connect the dots. My main goal is to connect all the dots for a lot of people who don't know where to start creating family trees.

I know a few Find a Grave page holders do not like to change the names, such as what is on headstones, but I personally feel that their entire name along with a nickname is a must. Example: A.E. Williams 1885-1952. Initials and single year dates are extremely hard to search for on ancestry tree sites, and if you do not pay for subscriptions, it is possible you will never find that person. I know this from personal experience!!
I will be honest and say I know I am pretty sure I have ruffled a few feathers with some page managers when I send edits adjusting the names.

There are a lot of prudes that work on this site, and I have come across a few. If you have a ancestor that I manage, please ask me for permission to control their profile. I have no issues with that.

Some volunteers ask that obituaries not be uploaded or any living relatives be mentioned due to identity theft, but a majority of the ones partaking in identity theft already have searched the worldwide internet and have a copy of the obituary. Obviously, Legacy is an awesome obituary service, and they will have all the deceased and living individuals listed, as well as your local newspaper. I try not to bump heads with individuals, but Ancestry is expensive, and I try my best to give people the names and tools to get started on their family's history. That has always been my main objective. That and let our deceased loved ones know that they were here and they mattered...and they are NOT forgotten.

If for some reason you feel that a document such as an obituary or death certificate needs to removed that I personally have uploaded, I can delete it. I do try to keep digital copies of them, I try to upload and file them on Facebook, which I have the viewing set as public.

If you have any suggestions, please use the edits tools currently available. It is hard for me to change information that I've received via email or F.A.G. Messages, as it is. It the easiest site to maneuver around.

Please fill free to use any photo I have personally uploaded for your research. Although, it is a lot of work to take photos, upload, complete research, it is something I enjoy, and I do not plan to hoard rights to every picture, article, or certificate that I have uploaded.
