I'm also planning on completing a series of major updates of info and pictures for a church cemetery in Cashtown, Aragon, Polk, Georgia this summer that primarily serves as a family cemetery for an entire branch of my family; as well as researching and fixing the grave information of some families in and associated with Heard County, Georgia (including Kight, Bussey, Adams, Harwell, and Hammond).

In 1844, Moravian Church records in Salem, North Carolina list "The girl Ellen Blickensderfer from Lititz" as a new addition from another congregation (9:4762). After having arrived in Salem, on June 4, 1844, the records say "Dr. Schumann has adopted the girl Ellen Blickensdoerfer from Lititz" (9:4782). Ellen was adopted by Frederick (Friedrich) Henry (Heinrich) Shuman (Schumann) and his second wife Theodora Schultz Shuman (Schumann). In Theodora's will, she refers to her adopted daughter as "Ellen Starbuck, whom I raised from a little girl." It is believed Theodora and Heinrich had no other children. Heinrich did however have two sons with his first wife, both of whom died before Ellen's adoption.

D. H. Starbuck was a graduate of Guilford College. He was a delegate to the North Carolina state constitutional conventions of 1861 and 1865. In December of 1865 he was first appointed to his position as US Attorney for the North Carolina federal district court by President Andrew Johnson. In 1868 he was elected as the Judge of the state superior court, but declined the seat. In 1870 Darius was reappointed to his position as the state's US Attorney by President Ulysses S. Grant. In 1872, when the state federal court was devided into an East and West district, he was appointed as the first US Attorney for the new district. Rites Set for E. D. Brock, 74

E. D. Brock, 74, died at his home, 208 East McGhee Street, at 5:15 o'clock yesterday afternoon after an illness of one year.

Born in Cartersville,** August 16, 1870, he made his home in Rome for 27 years, and was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church for 45 years. He was employed at Anchor Duck Mills until ill health forced him to retire.

Besides his widow, he leaves five sons, J. A. Brock, J. F. Brock, J. H. Brock, E. D. Brock Jr., and R. E. Brock, all of Rome; three step-sons, E. M. Broome, of Rome, Robert Broome, of Cedartown and E. L. Broome, of Savannah; three step-daughters, Mrs. H. W. Hyde, Mrs. H. H. Keel and Mrs. B. F. Suits; a brother, W. C. Brock; and a sister, Mrs. C. L. McDonald, of Rome; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home. Elder L. W. Spinks and Elder T. A. Climer will officiate. Interment will be in Silver Creek Cemetery. The remains will rest at the residence until time for services, and six sons will serve as pallbearers.
