"Thanks "to all my friends, cousins, and hard workers here at Findagrave. Thank you for your time! My goal is to help connect family. I am currently working in Collinsville at Ridgelawn to photo every headstone with GPS. it is about 40% as of Jan 2024. I started on the North section which is the older section and hope to finish in 2024. this should make all requests much easier to find. the cemetery records at city hall are helpful but there was a fire years ago that destroyed records. I have found the records at the cemetery maintenance are in good shape and the city help is always great to assist. there are over 8000 graves to document. approximately 92 % have photos already.
If someone takes a photo that I've requested "thanks"! it's easy to ask and much harder to do. Every photo may be the one someone has been waiting for to answer those family questions!
Glad I found this source for a virtual family reunion!
The Golden Driller turned 50. Behind me is the Golden Driller in front of the Tulsa Fairgrounds International Petroleum Exposition Building it was originally placed at the time when Tulsa was the OIL CAPITOL of the World. The Driller turned 50 April 9,2016.
If for any reason I have created a memorial of a close Family member of yours and you would rather not have it posted on this site please just send me a nice, polite message and I would be happy to delete it if other family is not involved. In some situations, it may be up to Findagrave officials to do it but please consider that we are all volunteers working to help people find our ancestors and document stones that are fading with time and age.
Many thanks to the majority that take time to send a message with the elated feelings that come from finding a loved ones Grave site. I am also thankful for contributors that have dedicated their time to find mine!
Findagrave now has an app which makes it very easy from a smart phone with locations turned on to take a picture with a GPS tag and download it directly to the memorial! I found this out after I went through Drumright cemetery documenting gravestones in 2016, with a little coaching from a friend on Findagrave. Many contributors are out there working hard and using technology like this to take us right to an ancestor's grave site virtually and physically when we get a chance. take advantage of the app and start using the GPS. many phones it is as easy as opening the camera and right swiping the screen to turn that on and the benefit is tremendous!
Thanks again to the hard-working contributors both local and hundreds of miles away!
