I am working on Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg, IL so if you come across any of the memorials know that I am not done with them. I decided to add all the memorials first then go back and add info to the memorials and link to family. Feel free to send edits now to save me time later. Member Jan is working on adding pictures to Linwood as well so if there isn't a picture, check back soon.

2/4/22 Another member contacted me about someone on The Oquawka IL Soldiers memorial and I see that FindAGrave has now deleted pictures I have posted to the 200 people inscribed on it. I don't understand why photographing this memorial has upset others. I have now put my virtual cemetery of these soldiers in Henderson Cty IL as private so as not to upset anyone else!!
Disappointment again in a website I used to enjoy!!!!

1/11/22 guess I will be working mostly just on ancestry.com from now on. New rules won't even allow me to look at a memorial for 3 months of someone who has just passed. I have spent hours finding parents, children, siblings of the recently departed and sending those edits. Now I can't even post a flower on someone who just passed unless I remember to check back in 3 months. Guess I'll have more free time now, thanks FindAGrave!!

2021 Recently I was going to put another flower on my dad's memorial for his birthday and I noticed all the ones I had previously put on his memorial are gone. Then I noticed every single one I have added over the past 6 yrs are also gone. I am seriously considering stopping my work on here. I realize it's a free website but I have done alot of work posting memorials and pictures but it may end soon. I have sent over 23,000 edits to link families and provide or correct info. I have added over 13,000 photos and over 5,000 memorials. I was in the wrong and hadn't read the flower policy and had seen other members post bio info on flowers so thought it was o.k. Boy was I wrong!!

When I contacted findagrave I got the following reply, "After reviewing your account we see that your flowers went against guidelines by posting obituary and bio information. This is not what the purpose of flowers are for." The curators of the site made the choice so they would not put them back on for me.

So a busy body member on here decided to tattle on me instead of sending me a msg asking me to delete a certain flower that must have offended/upset them and all my flowers got removed.

I started out as a member of ancestry.com and then eventually joined Find A Grave as well a few years ago. I have now convinced my sister and niece to join in on the hunt. I have mainly focused on local cemeteries near my hometown. I have photographed the following cemeteries in IL: Maquon, Russell , Little York , Pleasant Green, Norwood, Salters Grove, Miles, Swedish Cem in Knoxville, Hope Cemetery Alexis Junction, Oak Grove in East Peoria, IL, Cumberland Cem Henderson Cty, Oquawka Township 13/Wells Cemetery in Henderson Cty, Belmont Cemetery in Henderson Cty, and Warren Cty Memorial Park Cemetery in Monmouth, Zion Cemetery in Groveland, 3 sections of Knoxville Cemetery. I try to keep my original files as it's helpful to find family members buried together.

On 7/4/19 with the help of Find A Grave I created a cenotaph memorial cemetery for The Soldiers' Monument of Henderson County. It is located in Oquawka, Henderson Cty, IL. Unfortunately on 8/23/19 because of an unnamed find a grave member who didn't think it should exist, this memorial has been deleted and all 200 of my memorials are now listed as unknown burials. Per FAG rules it didn't meet the criteria for being a cenotaph. So I have now created a virtual cemetery for the soldiers and on each memorial I have tried to located the actual burial and family members of the soldier.

I have no problem with anyone copying my cemetery pix or adding them on ancestry sites. Cemeteries are open for everyone to visit and take pix and I don't feel as I "own" any of them. If you want to list me as source, that would be great. If I have any personal pictures/documents I would appreciate being sited as the source on those.

I know this isn't a genealogy website but I enjoy the hunt of finding family members for anyone I add to Find A Grave.

I have listed MConover #47345000 to have ownership of my memorials after I pass. He is my husband's 1st cousin, 1X removed. He was the one who encouraged me to join findagrave and we have worked together on ancestry for many years.
